Don’t look back in anger

Greeting from “West Memphis, Arkansas.” Yes, that is what they call where we are right now. En route to Kansas City for the start of a long run that will take us all the way down the west coast and back the the southwest. Very excited to go to Cali. Amoeba Records, here I come home. LA has beautiful weather too, so that’ll be nice. Got some old friends out that way from high school who I love dearly. Should be good.

Jazz Fest was splendid. Absolutely splendid. A beautiful day, a great crowd. We played a really good set, very tight, full on rock. Did “I Can Tell” with a couple of the Bonerama guys.2820_203919130264_503265264_6683352_1675016_n Been friends with Mark Mullins for a long time, quite an honor to play at Jazz Fest with him after all these years. Might not be here without him. And the always brilliant Kevin George, a.k.a. The Butterscotch Stallion joined us on drums during Jenny. He looked immaculate2820_203919205264_503265264_6683365_2623374_n. Would have liked to see some other stuff pop up in the set, stuff I think we’re playing really well (Outside Looking In, I Told Ya, Helter Skelter, etc), but at the end of the day, it’s not my call. Oh well. Here’s some pics taken by my beautiful wife and mr. Will Byington….enjoy!

Caught Death Cab for Cutie later that night at the CAC in NOLA. They were great live, much better than I anticipated. Great show.

So now we’re heading out. Gonna be a good summer for us. Got some fun stuff coming up. There’s some cool plans being discussed, but Im not gonna say anything about them. Cuz when you do that, and nothing comes of it, you look like an idiot. Oh well.

If you get a chance, enjoy the following:
Coconut Records – Davy (This is Jason Schwartzman’s musical project, it’s great)
Noel Gallagher – The Dreams We Have As Children (iTunes live acoustic album, wonderful)
Steve Martin – Born Standing Up (been out for a while, picked it up in Oxford and have been throughly enjoying it.)

P.S. This blog will be moving soon to www.jonathanpretus.com, not sure when though. The site will feature my music, my art, some other cool stuff. Stay tuned for that!!
