Another sunday morning call

25 01 2009

Greetings from the back lounge of our little traveling tube.  Sorry for the delay in blogs.  Last week we were on the Rock Boat, didn’t have internet, but had a great time.  Everyone had their significant other out with them, which is always fun.  We played 3 really great shows, we were all pretty happy with them.  The wind on the Lido Deck for the 3rd show was absolutely out of control.  But a fun show all together.  The brothers from Hanson joined us on Drummerman.  Those guys are 3 of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet, and a fantastic band as well, they really blew me away.  I really give them props for taking their career into a DIY situation, and really flourishing with it.  I hope we get to play with them some more.

Saw some great shows too on the boat.  Tonic got back together just in time to do their first shows back on the Rock Boat.  A wonderful show, forgot how good their songs are.  Emerson’s solo show was equally great, he’s such a talented writer and singer.  Graham Colton was great as well, playing with just an acoustic guitar, an electric, and a bass/keyboard player.  Really brought his songs to some different life, and he’s a super talented and nice guy to boot.  David Ryan Harris blew me away as always, and the wife and I were so happy to hear him play “If I Had A Dime.”  Curtis Peoples was a nice discovery as well, not to mention his bass player Daniel who come might say could be my twin.  Everyone we met was so nice and cool, no ego bs to be found from anyone.

The happiest find I think for the wife and I was Aslyn.  I’ve heard about her for a few years, but never heard or seen her play.  We were BLOWN AWAY.  One of the best musicians I’ve seen in years.  Her show left Jules and I, as well as Griff and his girlfriend in tears at the end.  I highly reccomend checking her out.

Got a couple days off coming up this week, but we’re still out on the road.  I think I’m gonna use the time to finish up some new songs I’ve been working on a bit, and also do some more smaller paintings.  I KNOW I KNOW I’ve been saying I’m going to put my stuff up on the site, and I will, it’s just been kinda hectic lately.  Im hoping to get them up next time I’m home around Mardi Gras.  I’ve grown really happy with the direction and style that my stuff’s been taking.  I love using bright bold colors, real frantic images and styles.  It’s alot of fun, and I think kinda goes hand in hand with my musical career.  I can’t wait to share my art with everyone.

Rumor on the street is that our single “I Believe” is starting to get a little love at radio.  If you want to request it at your local Adult Contemporary station, that’d be much appreciated.

All for now.  Hopefully some pics from the Rock Boat will come soon.
